In the United States, a big threat is emerging on the side of the mercury militia - the crew who believe that Autism is a disease caused by vaccines.

Her name is Jenny McCarthy.

She is best known from her time on MTV in the mid 1990's, and at the height of her popularity she made an appearance at Wrestlemania 11 - accompanying Shawn Michaels to the ring for his match against Diesil/Kevin Nash. But not much had been heard from her after that until recently.

She appeared on Larry King Live last year talking about her son Evan and how she "cured" her son of Autism through dietary means. I didn't see it when it was on CNN, but there is an emerging view within the Autism community that Evan isn't - and never was - Autistic. McCarthy published a book about her journey which I won't name here.

I gave her a serve on my ASD Blog at the time, but more recently she has become more boisterous. Last month when the Hannah Poling case was announced as settled out of court, the head honcho of the Centre of Disease Control (CDC) Julie Gerderbing advised rightly that this settlement was not an admission that vaccines caused Autism.

And Jenny McCarthy flipped! She called on people to call for Julie's sacking, and her behaviour started to remind me of Fore Sam.

Finally - her second appearance on Larry King on Autism Awareness Day took the cake, and it's why I nominate her for Idiot of the Month for April. She flatly refused to listen to alternatives and insisted that vaccines caused Autism. I understand she even swore when challenged. I know why - she has been brainwashed by Brad Handley and Generation Rescue. She has become a female Fore Sam and the worst part about it is she has connections that give her publicity. Aside from being the main squeeze at present of Jim Carrey. She even apparently claimed that she'd prefer her son to catch measles than be Autistic!

I saw an edited version of her appearance and here's what I garnered;

The dirty word "epidemic" came up. She said that she wasn't anti vaccine or anti any of the other things, but she was lying. In the next breath she said she was treating vaccine injury and not Autism. And yet her kid was DXed!! Whilst I agree that the schedule is too tight, it has nothing to do with the vaccines themselves. And she also lied when she said the "mercury" (meaning the thiomersal) had not been removed from all vaccines - certainly in the US with the exception of the flu vaccine.

She then said - when asked about science basis - that the evidence was ANECDOTAL!! That's hardly scientific! Parents do NOT know what is going on scienfically! That's the job of psychiatrists!

I watched Evan. He's still on the Spectrum. I think he's Aspergers now. OK - I'm not a psych, but the stimming is still there. McCarthy stated that Evan no longer qualifies for services. She translated that as "cured". BS!! That - if anything - is a reflection on a poorly serviced state. She threw in that "hit by a bus" analogy again - which pissed me off the last time she said that, and it still does now. Autism is nothing like being hit by a bus!

I'll simply re-iterate the same things I have said on this Wiki. Vaccines do not cause Autism. Autism is genetic in origin.

Jenny McCarthy, you fail as a parent and as a human being. Wherever you were before you wrote your book, you should go back there. You are a disgrace.
